The Downtown Business Community of Mount Vernon is a non-profit group made up of retailers, service industry and professional businesses in the downtown business corridor. There are approximately 250 businesses in an eight block area. The DBC is responsible for beautification of this area, purchasing and installing seasonal banners and flags, and organizing a wide variety of events. We are constantly working on new events, festivals and fun-raising to made downtown an attractive, fun and well-loved area destination for our community and visitors.

• Old Fashioned Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony

We also maintain a professional office, hold monthly board meetings, research area and regional festivals and events and liaison with other cities all across the United States and the world, via the internet to bring a great variety of exciting things to see and do in our town.

Our Board of Directors is made up of downtown merchants and business owners. We meet the first Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Gilbert & Gilbert Conference Room in Pine Square. The DBC publishes a monthly newsletter which is distributed to the entire downtown Mount Vernon and contributes to the monthly newsletter sent out by our Chamber of Commerce.

We work very hard to support our members by being their diplomat to the City and liaison to other businesses and agencies in our community.  Please join us in making downtown Mount Vernon the destination place to do business, shop and visit.
